 Blairsville &
              The Blue
Ridge Mountains
are 1+ billion years
old — among the oldest mountain ranges in the U.S. The Cherokee who once lived here called them
“The Great Blue Hills of God.”
Home
to Georgia’s
only “cloud forest,” Brasstown Bald is continually soaked from the moisture of
the clouds.
Created
in 1931, Vogel State Park is the 2nd oldest state park in Georgia (and one of the most popular!).
Choestoe, an unincorporated area south of Blairsville, was known to the Cherokee as the “rabbit place” or “land of dancing rabbits.” You will impress the locals when you correctly pronounce it Cho-ee-stow-ee.
