LAKE TRAHLYTA
405 Vogel State Park Road, Blairsville
(706) 745-2628 | www.gastateparks.org/Vogel
Located inside Vogel State Park, this 20-acre lake is named for a Cherokee maiden. You can bring your own non-motorized boat or rent a kayak or paddleboat for a few hours of fun. Swimming, camping, fishing, picnicking, hiking, wildlife viewing, miniature golf, a playground and rental cabins are also available.
LAKE WINFIELD SCOTT

(706) 745-6928 | www.fs.usda.gov
Seeking solitude? Head south from Blairsville on GA 180 to the small town of Suches and 18-acre Lake Winfield Scott. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this quiet gem is open year-round. Sit on the sandy beach, fish the freshwater lake, boat, camp, picnic, hike and swim.
NOTTELY DAM & LAKE
GA325,Blairsville | www.lakenottely.org/lake.html
Lake Nottely is a gorgeous 4,180-acre lake with more than half its 106-mile shoreline undeveloped and protected by the U.S. Forest Service. The TVA-controlled lake tends to be quieter than other lakes in the mountains (a secret spot for paddle- boards and kayaks is where the Nottely River runs into the lake near Meeks Park). It’s also well known for fishing — striped bass, largemouth bass and crappie are regularly stocked to provide more opportunities.
