A Thank You to Our Sponsors!

As we look forward to another program year we always remember to look back and thank our sponsors. Without our sponsors we wouldn't be able to bring Berks County and the Berks Family Business Alliance our excellent programming year after year.

Why did the Chamber invest our time and resources to create the Berks Family Business Alliance in 2014? We wanted to provide a locally-based organization where family businesses could receive the resources they need to make important decisions. We wanted to provide services and access to valuable information for family-owned businesses at an affordable price, and to provide a "place" where family members can come together and learn from one another and experts in a safe environment.

You may know that almost 90% of businesses in North America are family-owned with 62% of total employment in North America coming from family businesses. We make the case that Berks County may indeed have more family business than the national average. It's because of these statistics that we are proud to work with the sponsors we do.

Are you interested in sponsoring the Berks Family Business Alliance?
To be a part of something bigger for Berks?
To ensure that our family businesses continue to thrive?

Women in Family Business Leadership Lab!

We are excited to announce the kickoff of the DelVal Women in Family Business Leadership Lab! Whether your role (or potential role) is in the Family, Shareholder, Board, and/or Management Mountain, this Lab is about learning and listening to one another as women, develop your voice and take positive steps forward.

This Lab will begin meeting in September, and they are tentatively planning to hold the meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at DVFBC.  The Lab also includes quarterly individual coaching. See the flyer here for more details!

While participating in the Lab, women will:

1. Learn from others navigating similar challenges and opportunities
2. Learn the 5 Mountain Process and how to better navigate Family Business Complexity
3. Learn from our resource book: SPARK: How to Lead Yourself and Others to Greater Success
4. Learn from dynamic, inspiring guest speakers

To help with the decision-making process, they'd welcome interested women to meet face-to-face with other women to learn more. They are pleased to offer Women in Family Business Conversation & Coffee, at no charge, at their office on Tuesday, July 31st @ 10 am.

During our time, we will:
• Introduce ourselves
• Discuss the challenges women face in family business
• Share lessons learned

This is an opportunity for women to come and be heard and meet other women who get the complexity and unique dynamics of family businesses.

Peer Discussion Groups – Join One Today!

Confidential, non-competitive, professionally led, peer discussion groups give you the opportunity to meet and solve the challenges of running a family enterprise in very competitive, disruptive times. For over three years, Berks FBA has hosted these discussions, which are facilitated by professionals in the field. Participants' experience has confirmed what research has shown for years: these peer groups provide family businesses with an edge.

"The FBA peer group has become an invaluable tool in my development as a family business leader, employer and person. It provides honest and confidential discussion that I find relevant not only for my particular family business, but rather for all business. The camaraderie, intelligence and wisdom of the group is unparalleled. There is something to be gained from each session."
-  Mike Duddy WORLD Electronics

We allow only one participant per group from each industry segment in order to avoid competitive concerns. To promote camaraderie and trust, enrollment is designed for a designated individual (not meant for a company to send different people at different times). Enrollment is limited to Chamber members. Peer groups meet a minimum of 8-10 times per year and the annual participation fee is $400. For more information or to register, contact Rachael Romig, 610.898.7775.
