EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Congratulations to School of the Month recipient Eglin Elementary School! Principal Dennis Samac is pictured above with Education Committee member Steve Wills, Raytheon  Company and a basket of fresh fruit and snacks as a token of appreciation for all they do for our kids and community. Eglin Elementary is an A+ school located on Eglin Air Force Base.

MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Lt. Jackie Pienkowski, 24th SOW Public Affairs Advisor, was the Guest Speaker at the August Military Affairs Committee Meeting. She briefed the committee on the heroin story of Air Force Tech. Sgt. John Chapman, the 19th airman to earn the nation's highest military honor, and the first airman to earn the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. Chapman was the combat controller who was killed trying to save the lives of a team of Army Rangers during a ferocious mountaintop battle in Afghanistan in 2002. Chapman's family lives locally and was recent presented the medal in Washington, D.C. by President Donald Trump. Pienkowski is pictured here with MAC Chairman, Mark Clark, Okaloosa Gas.

ROAD DESIGNATION CEREMONY

The City of Valparaiso honored the late Mayor John B. Arnold, Jr. with a Road Designation Ceremony renaming Valparaiso Parkway to the John B. Arnold, Jr. Memorial Highway. Mayor Brent Smith, Commissioner Christine Wasdin and former Mayor and Commissioner Heyward Strong spoke of the service, dedication and love Mayor Arnold had for the City of Valparaiso.
