West St. Paul City Council Proposes

Increase in Franchise Fees-Electrical Utility Tax

The city of West St. Paul is considering an increase to the franchise fees each customer pays on their monthly electricity bill. The city currently charges a 5% gross revenue tax. This tax is applied to the energy cost, as well as the taxes and fees on your bill. The city is seeking to raise the gross earnings tax to 6%. The first reading of an ordinance to raise the franchise fee has already taken place, the city council will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 26, 2018.

We encourage impacted business owners, non-profits and residents to find out more about this fee. Please share how it will impact you. For more information on the fee, reach out to city administrator Ryan Schroeder, or 651-552-4101.

Eagan State of the City Address

A Growing Economy and Job Market

We attended the Eagan State of the City Address on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Have you seen all the new construction going on in Eagan? They have been voted #1 city in the state of Minnesota for fiscal health. The city has also skyrocketed to a record 428 million in new valuation over past years. The Minneapolis/Saint Paul Business Journal referred to Eagan as, "The busiest 'burb," and "BIG-LEAGUE EAGAN". The Eagan marching band even showed up to lead us in SKOL VIKINGS.

Thanks to all who turned out and tuned up:
