The average student-teacher ratio of 14:1 compares favorably with the national average of 16:1. Technology is a valued tool for student engagement across all grade levels in GCS. Smart Boards, Smart Tables, and a multitude of educational technology tools, software, and applications enhance learning in our classrooms each day. GCS provides a 1:1 computing device to each student in grades 9 – 12 to further connect their learning opportunities and experiences. GCS has strong arts and music programs in place, and is a member of the Kennedy Center Partners In Education program and New York’s Carnegie Hall’s LinkUp program. The schools offer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) opportunities for students, especially at the high school level. The school system has school-business partnerships with over 100 area businesses participating as partners in education. The Greenbrier County Schools provide guidance counselors and nurses in all schools. School safety is a priority, and Prevention Resource Officers are present in the middle schools and high schools.
