Greenbrier Valley Theatre offers year-round live performances, in- cluding musicals, comedies, classic and contemporary drama, and children’s theatre. GVT is the official State Theatre of West Virginia, and an Equity the- atre, using professionals as well as local talent. GVT has an after-school dra- ma program for children and teens, and runs a 2-week summer theatre camp. GVT has been in existence for nearly 50 years, and is based in a $2.5 million facility in downtown Lewisburg. Carnegie Hall is a regional center for the arts, housed in a state- ly Georgian Revival structure in Lewisburg, donated in 1902 by Pittsburgh philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. The Hall serves as a venue for performing artists, has three art galleries, a pottery and a weaving studio, and provides extensive arts education programming for area youth. In the summer months Carnegie Hall hosts free outdoor concerts. The ever-popular Carnegie Kids College, a 2-week intensive arts camp, takes place in July.
